We went out to dig (just the Roman square) today because we
lost yesterday to rain and even though it was windy we are protected by the
massive Roman building so it was a perfect day for the excavation. Most went to
Petra but our team went to dig. Well as
usual just before we quit for the day we uncovered a water installation in the
corner of the inside room behind the bath complex. It went completely through
the wall and has a lovely piece of tera cotta pottery at the base to act as a basin. I’m
open to suggestions as to its purpose. We will clear the area tomorrow.
We are off to Jerash and Um Quis tomorrow and
will be keeping our eye open for similar architectural details. We are back in the square on Sunday.
