Today was our first day to open the Roman area. Every thing looked good from last season. Finding our surveyor stakes was a challenge from last season but we were able to locate enough to string our square.
The first thing that appeared as we were cleaning the square was a dislodged carefully cut stone that may be part of a lintal of the building. We will report more once we uncover it. This may have an inscription on it but this will be determined tomorrow as we clean and clarify it.
In the background you will see the black plastic from last year that was used to cover the bath complex.
