The Graves family is a fascinating and inspiring one with a long and extensive history. ELTON ELMER GRAVES (1932–1990), a musician and businessman from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, and his wife Hilda Luella Dimock, are the focus of this in-depth book that traces the Graves family ancestry from Ireland (Gen 68), England (Gen 28), and New England (Thomas Graves Gen 168).

REAR ADMIRAL THOMAS GRAVES (1680–1775)
At the heart of the family's history is Captain Thomas Graves, born in 1580 in Derby, Derbyshire, England (Gen 168). He was one of the original Adventurers and Planters of the Virginia Company of London and integral in establishing the first permanent English settlement in North America. This book reveals the many different coats of arms of the Graves family and outlines the diverse group of Graves individuals who migrated to the US in the 17th–19th centuries in search of a new life. It provides comprehensive research and detailed information on the Graves ancestry, from their migration to the US to uncovering the Graves family tree.

The Genealogy of LeBaron Dimock and the Memoirs of Georgia Luella Dimock

The Dimock (Dymoke) family was an important contributor to the history of England, United States and Canada.  The Dymokes of England are best known for their association since 1377 with the title of King’s Champion by virtue of which they held the manor of Scrivelsby, in Lincolnshire, England. Our line is believed to have been connected to Sir Edward Dymocke (ca. 1555–1634) of Scrivelsby, Lincolnshire.

Following religious persecution in England, Elder Thomas Dimmock (1604–1658), was the first Dimmock to settle in New England on American soil in 1635 in the Cape Cod, Massachusetts area.  Then still experiencing religious persecution, the Dimmock family, led by Rev Shubael Dimock III (1708–1781) and his son Rev Daniel Dimock  (1736–1805), were among the first settlers from New England, known as Planters, and migrated to Newport, Nova Scotia, Canada in October 1759.

The noted Baptist minister Joseph Dimock (b. 11 Dec. 1768 in Newport, N.S.), was the son of Daniel Dimock and Deborah Bailey (Baley, m. 21 Aug. 1798 Betsy Dimock), and they had at least 11 children (d. 29 June 1846 in Bridgetown, N.S.).

Another son of Rev. Daniel Dimock, Harris A. Dimock (1793–1851) resettled to St. Martins, New Brunswick where his grandson LeBaron Dimock (1863–1949) was born and moved to Havelock, New Brunswick where our direct descendants lived.

Besides documenting the important lineage of LeBaron Dimock, this work also contains the fascinating memoirs of his daughter, Georgia Luella Dimock (1900–1996), who worked and travelled as a private nurse in the United States from 1920 to 1961.
