Archaeologists eat well

We worked a half day today before it began to rain. Abu Musa, a local farmer, invited us all to his house at noon for lunch. On the menu was a native Jordanian dish called Ozzie (spelling subject to correction). One dish was fresh lamb from his farm and rice with peanuts and other local nuts. There was also chicken as well. Before we ate he brought out a large collection of whole jars from his property (or so it is reported to us). They all appear to be intermediate bronze jars. Between the food and the pottery it was a very good half day. Abu Musa has given us permission to dig in the middle of his fallow banana field so we are grateful for his kindness and generosity.

I'm looking forward to joining the dig next week! I've been there for the past 2 years and have found it to be a very exciting and educational experience. God bless!
